Former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier has died of a heart attack, his lawyer says.
Reynold Georges says Duvalier died at home on Saturday.
Duvalier had posed a challenge to Haiti since his return in 2011 from 25 years in exile in France.
A majority of Haitians are now too young to have lived under a Duvalier regime. The man known as "Baby Doc" was only 19 years old when he was tapped by his feared father, Francois "Papa Doc" Duvalier, to assume the presidency.
However, many still remember his government's nightmarish prisons and violent special militia, known as the Tonton Macoute, which killed and tortured political opponents with impunity.
