Massachusetts law enforcement officials say they have been notified that three Afghan National Army officers who went missing during a training exercise are in custody at the Canadian border.
State police spokesman David Procopio said Monday that federal authorities were interviewing the officers at Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls, but provided no further details.
Military officials say the Afghan soldiers had been participating in a U.S. Central Command Regional Co-operation training exercise at Joint Base Cape Cod.
They arrived at Camp Edwards in Massachusetts on Sept. 11.
They were last seen Saturday at the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis during an off day for the program.
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick said earlier Monday that he had no reason to believe the soldiers posed any danger to the public.
