As Canada officially ends its engagement in Afghanistan, which started in 2002, many observers are reflecting on the costs of the mission, and asking what it accomplished.
From Canada's decision to join the U.S.-led mission to the Afghan detainees scandal to the proportionately high toll of Canadian casualties, the deployment was highly controversial.
CBC News takes a look back at the most memorable moments of Canada's experience in Afghanistan.
