Halifax Regional Police were looking for a man near St. Joseph’s-Alexander McKay Elementary School on Russell Street. It wasn't immediately clear whether the man had been apprehended.

Police said earlier they believed him to be armed.

There are about 250 students enrolled at the school from grades Primary to 6.
