Prime Minister Stephen Harper is likely to face questions on the Senate and on Syria at an announcement in Toronto this morning beginning at 11:15 a.m. ET.
The two issues have dominated the news recently.
On Thursday, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird met with George Sabra, president of the Syrian National Council, which opposes the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
An ongoing scandal over expenses filed by four senators, three of whom were named by Harper, has also generated headlines over the past few months, renewing debate over the need for reform.
CBC News will carry Harper's news conference live.
