Vancouver police say the death of a woman who fell from a downtown highrise is suspicious.

Witnesses told police they heard screams before a woman, in her 20s, fell 13 floors to her death.

The incident happened at about 5 p.m. PT Sunday at a building in the 1400 block of Howe Street.

Sgt. Randy Fincham says police have spoken with someone who lives in the condo.

"We believe have tracked down the occupant of the suite that we believe that the woman was at,” Fincham said.

“We are speaking with that person and we will talk that person again to try and determine why that woman was there, or perhaps why she was out on the balcony at the time.”

Fincham says police were called to the same building earlier Sunday.

"We had been to the same building, possibly another condo in the same area and spoke to a number of occupants at that time,” he said. “It's too early to tell if this is possibly related to that suite from earlier this morning."

No arrests have been made.

Police are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious to come forward.
